SciShorts: Fossils of Dinosaur with Rainbow Feathers Discovered

Scientists have discovered fossils of a dinosaur with rainbow feathers. The bird-like colorful dinosaur is believed to have lived in what is now the northern part of China, nearly 160 million years ago. The dinosaur was named Caihong juji which means rainbow in mandarin. The Caihong is believed to be roughly the size of a duck and is said to have characteristics similar to a Velociraptor. The fossils showed crests above its eyes indicating bony eyebrows. Though most of its body was covered with black or dark blue feathers, its neck was covered in iridescent, colorful feathers. This discovery can help scientists learn more about the Jurassic Period.
