Neuroscientists at the University of California, Berkeley have managed to trace the progress of a thought through the human brain. Through this experiment, scientists have been able to note how the prefrontal cortex helps the brain coordinate activity based on perception. The scientists were also able to find that the brain gets ready to respond even before we know what the response will be. They used a technique known as electrocorticography to figure this out. This technique records from hundreds of different electrodes placed on the brain’s surface and is used to detect activity in the thin outer region of the brain. This discovery can prove important in uncovering more secrets of how the brain works.
